From Our Satisfied Clients

Dear Dalbys-

I just wanted to write to thank you for all of the help and time you have put into helping me through the whole college thing. From SAT prep class to extra math tutoring to funny discussions about redecorating to serious discussions about college to exploring the little red convertible I've had a great time and learned a bit too! I couldn't have done as well and had as much fun as I did without you guys. I really admire the life you two have created for yourselves-not to mention how smart you both are! Thanks again for all of the time and effort you put in to helping me, I really appreciate it, and you can expect ot see both my sisters in a few short years!!

Thank you,

Hannah Bauman

PS I was accepted early decision to Grinnell College with a merit scholarship, so thanks for that also!!

Kate and Rick -

Greetings to you both from the Brown house here in Southeast DC!

I wanted to drop you a note of heartfelt thanks for the kindness and generosity you showed Angelina last year. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind (or hers) that your SAT Prep classes contributed greatly to her college entrance successes. She has decided to attend Cornell and is very excited about it. I imagine the 210 point increase in her scores as a result of her tutelage with you made all the difference in the world.

On behalf of my daughter and our entire family, I want to say a big, hearty 'Thank you!' for your generous scholarship from Dalby Tutoring. Thanks so much for your personal touch, warmth, humor and great college prep. Jordan and Angelina have now both sat in your care. Little brother Seth is a sophomore at Woodrow Wilson in DC and our baby, Christina, is in 7th. Seth will do well on the math, but will probably need some work in the verbal areas. He was at 70 on the PSAT math, 58 cr, and 58 wr.

BTW, Jordan is doing very well at Wesleyan in CT. He declared his major in chemistry, but has been taking interesting classes in literature, econ, history, even Classical Greek!

Many blessings to you both!

Gratefully,Ken and Kathy Brown

Kate,

Just wanted to let you know where Alex will be going in the Fall. He got into a number of colleges, but selected UVA. Thanks to you UVA was a viable option.

Hello Dalbys!

I am Rebecca's mom. I can't make it to your groove-in, although it really sounds like the place to be! Love the idea! It's just that I have a dance class at that time, and I have to work those calories off or else. I'll forward this to her dad in case he can make it.

But I did want to thank you very, very much, for the great care you gave to Rebecca's tutoring. You spent a long time with me over the phone explaining the options before she started, called Rebecca when she forgot to come, and even gave her an extra session! Rebecca thought you did a great job teaching her, and I think you really went above and beyond to help her do the best she could.

A+ for Dalby Tutoring! We'll have to have you over to our place soon. I definitely agree we have to show these kids who invented partying!!!

Thanks so much,Mother of student in accelerated class

Finding Dalby Tutoring was a tremendous asset for our daughter. We had tried others before but found Dalby to be vastly superior to them all. We first heard about Dalby from friends. Later, we found that the Washington Consumer Checkbook rated Dalby as the number one tutoring service in Northern Virginia. We are pleased to recommend them to you to help your children accomplish their goals.

Our daughter has been going to Dalby on and off for about ten years. We first went to them for SAT prep. Our daughter’s SAT score jumped 200 points right away. We also used Dalby private tutoring to help our daughter strengthen her skills when she was taking her AP calculus class. Rick Dalby’s tutoring helped her achieve straight A’s in AP calculus. Dalby’s tutoring helped her get into a good college. Then she got a top job with a national firm right out of college. Now, we are back at Dalby to help her prepare for the LSAT and her next goal of getting into a good law school.

Dalby specializes in individual attention. The instructors get to know your child as a person. Your child’s unique strengths and weaknesses are identified. Then the Dalby goes to work to improve the student’s study skills, as well as knowledge of individual subject areas. Strengths are enhanced and weak areas are improved. We noticed scores improved in all areas, but particularly those where help was specifically needed. She always enjoyed going to Dalby because she could see the improvement, but also because of their personal, and frequently humorous, approach to performing the individual classes. You can frequently hear laughter from the students as they work with them. Kate and Rick always made doing the assignment a positive experience.

Over the years, we have been pleased to recommend a number of people to Dalby, and they have all been pleased, whether it was for SAT prep, raising their grades in difficult subjects or in preparing for LSAT and other grad school admissions testing. Each of these students has been accepted to fine colleges and schools of their choice.

Our family has been a highly satisfied customer of Dalby Tutoring Service for over twenty years. All of our three children have benefited from their services at various times in their academic careers. When our children progressed to higher levels in math such as calculus, in advanced physics, and in advanced college organic chemistry, they found the help they needed at Dalby Tutoring and we were never disappointed. We have given their name to many friends who have similarly found Dalby to be extremely competent. At times we have even tried to stump Rick Dalby with extraordinarily difficult problems. We have yet to be successful.

My youngest son who graduates from UVA next week took his difficult AP chemistry problems to Rick and eventually felt confident enough to tutor AP chemistry for the Dalby's. They are a team who cares for their students and who will teach them until the concepts are ingrained. The fact that they have been successful in an area of the country in which people are very educated and very competitive is a testimony to their competence.

Our family has been thankful for their encouragement and for the skills they have rendered all three of our children throughout their academic journeys.

You guys are the best! Thanks so much!--Yan Wang

Rick, Kate,

We couldn't reach you by phone, but wanted you to know that Catherine did quite well with college applications and acceptances. She applied to 10 schools and was accepted by 9. Now she's trying to decide between the following:

1. Williams2. William & Mary3. Dartmouth4. NYU5. Boston College6. Holy Cross7. UVA8. Catholic9. George Mason

She was not accepted at Cornell, but is prepared to live with that blemish on her permanent record. ;)

She's open to suggestions as to which college she should attend. Of course, Tom is leaning towards Boston College. Pam
